Have you checked the water level of your battery lately?

Nope, I do not check it, that is why I have warranty on my car, 3 years or 100000 KM... if the battery or anything else is dying on me, well, Toyota better fix it... (Yes, they do replace the battery)(No, you don't have to check it every month, unless you have a very old car!)

You'll find that a lot of batteries nowadays are 'sealed' and therefore maintenance free. I've had one battery go on me here, and it just went but it was 3 and a half years old which is not too bad considering. Replaced it with a new one and will be happy if I get 3 and a half years out of it too.

Just replaced the battery on my trusty Strada after over 3 years of use (and the battery was not new when I got the car).

I managed to keep the battery going for almost a year after it first started showing signs of a duff cell or two. I found myself adding lots of top up water to 1 of the cells though and eventually I gave up and got a new battery...... 2,600 baht for an 85 Amp/Hr battery (fitted) plus 350 baht for my old battery, I was impressed.
I went to the GS Battery place just past pizza hut as the Mitsu place wanted over 3,000 for the same battery.

I was trying to find some info on reconditioning the gravity in the cells as they die off, but could not get any reliable info on doing it. 1 site suggested adding bicarbonate. I was thinking more on just adding some more acid. My battery was still pumping out the full power, but 2 of the cells were giving a lower reading than the others.

For the record: That was not a new battery when I got the car and has served me for over 3 years. The wifes new honda has gone through 2 brand new batteries in the same period of time.

the best thing to do is always check and top up your batteries every month... and then your battery should last longer
