International School on Samui

Post by Admin on Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:43 am

THE Ministry of Education has granted Samui’s Bluewater School a license to operate as an international school, making it the first international school in Southeast Thailand. Jeremy Lees, principal, said it took two years of numerous submissions and meeting strict criteria to be considered for the license.

Funny that is, that I just attended the opening of Nakhon International City School... (think they are playing with the words there)...

Anyways, I thought Fairview in Hat Yai/Songkhla was before them (but they share campus with another school...

There is Fairview (Songkhla) which is an annex of their main school in KL. Fairview also have other annexes in Penang and somewhere else too (Mallacca maybe?).

There is also the International School of Hatyai, in Hatyai obviously ..... but it seems that no one in the south can correctly categorize 'International'. What in fact does it mean? They have foreign teachers, they follow a UK/USA curriculum? Because paying B30,000 to me does not make an International School. Looks like anyone can call their school 'International' here yet only pay government rates.

I do know of some people who work in 'World Class Schools' too!
