Saying Hello

Post by nakhondave on Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:56 pm

Hi All
Just registered with this forum and it looks a lot better than the previous incarnation.
Any way I have a question for all the teachers of English language, or anyone who would like to reply,
Does a prospective tutor need a Uni degree to get a placement in Nakhon?
My reason for asking is this, I have a Thai wife and family our home is in NST,(presently in UK) I recently qualified as a tefl tutor which took me seven months todo, only to then be informed by everyone I spoke to that I would need a Degree to get a job in Thailand. so any Info either way would be good.....

A degree helps a lot but there are many without degrees teaching in Nakhon and the rest of Thailand. Much of it depends on how much the school wants you. If they do there are ways around the problem of not having a degree.

Welcome to the forum Dave. Nakhonsisean gave you a pretty good answer there. I might also add that appearance makes a difference at some places too. Best times for looking for work is either September or March/April which is in fact the beginning of the academic year.

What's life like in the UK at the moment?
